The Top 5 Images You Need For Your New Website.
Creating a great first impression on your website with professional photos and videos will help you to stand out from the crowd and show that you’re a leader in your field.
Whether you’re building a website from scratch, or refreshing a website you’ve had for a while, there are 5 main types of images you’ll want to launch your website. Here are our recommendations -
1. Headshots of each team member.
Gone are the days of headshots against a white wall, in one specific pose (this is unless you’re in a corporate environment, with guidelines requesting this). Headshots can really be anything you want them to be.
Below is an example from a shoot we did with FreeFlo Plumbing and the brief was to have photos that showcase the beauty of their hometown and bought out the blues of the sky and water as this relates to their brand colours. So we found a beautiful spot near the water, with as much blue sky as the gloomy day would offer and took the headshots there.
We suggest getting a range of poses and see what feels most comfortable, then you have the chance to change it up if you don’t need the images streamlined.
2. A connection photo
What on earth is a connection photo?!
It’s a photo that connects your dream client with the faces behind your brand. You want this photo to be fun, relaxed and show off your personality.
Connection is everything these days when trying to gain clients and giving your dream customer an insight into who it is that’s really driving the business and the brand creates connection, which is one of the first steps in building trust. Each are crucial steps to building your business.
For FreeFlo, who are a family run brand, we made sure we took natural shots with the team together, so their future clients know who they’ll be talking to or who might be showing up on their doorstep to save the day for a plumbing issue!
3. In-situ Shot
A behind the scenes style shot where you show how all the magic happens! It can be anything from shots of you / the team working in your office, off-site working on a project, creating products etc.
You love what you do right? Show this off in the images and give your dream client an insight into your world.
4. Branded Product / Service Image
PRODUCT BASED BRANDS
Images of your hero products showing your branding.
SERVICE BASED BRANDS
Images of you / the team in branded gear.
It could also be an image of a mood board that shows your brand logo, or fonts and colours that will be linked to your brand. This will work for both product and service businesses.
The idea of these types of images is another point of connection. E.g. when they see the logo, or the colours / font types in the mood board, over time as you build your brand it will be something that reminds them of you.
5. Filler Images
These are images which don’t relate directly to a person or a product. They can be things like, hands typing on a computer, hands picking up a tool, looking over the shoulder of someone at a mood board or table of products etc.
These shots can be slotted in throughout your website, on your contact us page and for various posts on social media. You’ll soon notice how handy these images actually come in!
